Albert The Bull

Travel Time: 9 minutes

Description: Albert the Bull was built in 1964, when this area was one of the largest cattle producing regions in America. Albert stands at 30 feet tall, and spans nearly 15 feet in length. Albert symbolizes the might and importance that cattle producing played in this region.

Rose Theater (cinema)

Travel Time: 7 minutes

Description: The original Audubon movie theater (where Chuck & Kathy Manatt had their first date in the '50s!) was refurbished by community volunteers and donors and reopened in June 2018. Showings every Friday & Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm. $4 admission for all ages.

Audubon Recreation Center

Travel Time: 9 minutes

Description: Entirely community-funded and -organized, the ARC features eight bowling lanes, racquetball and half-basketball courts, an indoor walking track and batting cage, and a restaurant and bar. Perfect for indoor fun!

Local Bike Trails

Travel Time: 10-30 minutes (Audubon, Carroll, others)

Description: Access the T-Bone Train, Blue Grass Park Trail, American Discovery Trail, and Sauk-Rail trail easily and quickly from the Lodge.

Templeton Rye Distillery and Visitor Center

Templeton Rye Distillery & Visitor Center

Travel Time: 12 minutes (Templeton, IA)

Description: The Templeton Rye Distillery and Visitor Center is open to the public for tours and tastings. Distillery tours provide unique insights into the process of creating The Good Stuff, while the Visitor Center features a museum showcasing the deep ties to the community.

Museum of Danish America

Travel Time: 26 minutes (Elk Horn, IA)

Description: The National Center for the Danish-American Community is located on a 35-acre property in Elk Horn. Both the buildings and the grounds invite visitors to explore the cultural heritage and natural landscape of Iowa’s Danish Villages.

Whiterock Conservancy

Whiterock Conservancy & Historic Garst Farmhouse

Travel Time: 27 minutes (Coon Rapids, IA)

Description: Whiterock Conservancy is a gem of history and of nature in Coon Rapids. The historic Garst Farm house at the heart of the property is the site where landowner and seed corn salesman Roswell Garst hosted Soviet leader Nikita Kruschev in September 1959. The surrounding conservancy is a mix of savannas, rolling pastures, native and restored prairies, wetlands, riverside bluffs, fishing ponds and unique geologic and archaeological sites.

Lake Anita State Park

Travel Time: 35 minutes (Anita, IA)

Description: 1,000+ acre park featuring a 171-acre reservoir on a branch of the Nishnabotna River. Enjoy a sandy beach with a volleyball court, 8 covered picnic shelters, seasonal boating and a 4-mile trail for walking and biking.

Henry Doorly Zoo

Travel Time: 1hr 30 minutes (Omaha, NE)

Description: Located in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska (right on the Iowa-Nebraska border) this zoo and aquarium is considered one of the best in the world and is renowned for it conservation programs. It has a large indoor desert, an enormous Imax theater, and one of the nation's largest cat complexes. Its programming and attractions make the Henry Doorly Zoo a superb family destination.
